Freddy Roman (owner) apprenticed under Master craftsman Philip C. Lowe at the Furniture Institute of Massachusetts (FIM) in Beverly, MA. After graduating, Freddy worked for conservation studios and cabinet shops restoring furniture, making built-ins, kitchen cabinets, architectural elements, and reproducing museum quality furniture. Freddy continues to study in the field of period furniture, restoration, and conservation from today's masters.
In 2007 Freddy opened a furniture making and restoration studio located in Littleton, MA. But in the fall of 2017 Freddy relocated and has taken over Steven Manning's Cabinet Shop located in Acton, MA. Today both businesses work under one roof under the new name The Furniture Repair Shop.
Currently Freddy and the staff are working together for architects, contractors, designers,builders, private clients, institutions, and conservation studios.
When Freddy isn’t working in the studio, he can be found educating the public, teaching, and demonstrating across the United States.
Steven Manning is a graduated from NBSS in Boston MA during the 1980's and also studied under Phil Lowe and Mr. George Fullerton. After graduating, Steve worked in a restoration shop with a master named Romeo, located long ago in Cambridge, MA. After many years in Cambridge, Steve had to expanded the business and moved to Acton, MA. For the last 20 plus years Steve has been making and restoring furniture for clients all across New England.
In 2017 Steven Manning's Cabinet Shop and Freddy Roman Maker & Restorer combined businesses under one roof under the new business name, The Furniture Repair Shop.
